The Importance Of Keeping Your Car Clean

When most people think about washing their cars, they think that the process is largely cosmetic. However, car washes can help you to whisk away abrasive dirt, so that your paint job stays in decent condition. Vacuuming out your car's interior is important too. If dirt and grime is allowed to sit on upholstery, it can wear down fibers and permanently stain fabrics. I have been taking care of cars for years, and I have learned a tip or two to keep your car in great condition. Check out this website to learn more about the importance of keeping your car clean.

5 Tricks for Detailing Your Car

Blog

If you want your vehicle to look as nice as possible, inside and out, you need to detail your vehicle. Auto detailing is about more than just quickly cleaning your vehicle; it is about giving your vehicle a deep cleaning that will really allow it to shine.

#1: Use Static Electricity to Pull Dirt Out of the Carpet

When it comes to cleaning the carpet in your vehicle, it is easy to run the vacuum over the carpet, and still see dirt ground into the carpet. Dirt in your vehicle can get ground deep into the fibers. You can use a little static electricity to help pull the dirt up. Just put on a latex glove and rub your hand over the carpet. This will help pull some of that deeply ingrained dirt upwards and make it easier to vacuum up.

#2: Brush Your Carpets with a Stiff Nylon Brush

Another technique you can use to really clean your carpets is to use a stiff nylon brush to brush your carpets before you clean them. A stiff nylon brush will help to loosen up the carpet fibers, making it easier to remove dirt from the carpet. Just make sure you don't go overboard with the brush; if you are too aggressive, you could damage the carpets.

#3: Brush the Air Vents

The air vents in your car can attract a lot of dust. One easy way to make sure you remove all the dust from the crevices of the air vents is by taking a small painter's brush and use it to get rid of the dust. Wipe the brush off after each vent you clean.

#4: Spray Down the Door Hinges

If any of your doors squeak when you open them, you can get rid of that annoying sound by spraying a little bit of WD-40 on the hinges. Once you spray the lubricant, open and close your door multiple times in order to spread the lubricant around. Then, apply a little white lithium grease, opening and closing the door. Wipe away any excess grease. Your door should operate more smoothly here on out.

#5: Use a Screwdriver & Cloth to Clean Little Trim Lines

There are little trim lines that run all over your car that can accumulate dust and debris. To clean the trim lines, use a screwdriver, preferably one that is worn down and the edges are not too sharp, and a cloth. Spray a little all-purpose cleaner on the cloth and wrap it around the head of the screwdriver. Use this new tool along the trim lines, moving the surface of the cloth as it gets dirty. This technique can also help you clean around little buttons inside your vehicle as well.
